Are you dressed for worship

Passage: Romans 12:1-13

We’re not talking about what people wear. Many are judged by what they wear and if they have tattoos, colored hair etc. However what someone wears or if they have tattoos has nothing to do with their worship!

Worship is to honor with extravagant love and extreme submission. We don’t have enough worship – not talking about going to church.

There are many times where we do have to dress for the occasion but we can wear the attire of spirituality and worship all the time. Our lives and what comes out of our lives reflect our worship attire. In other words, when we show the love of Jesus we are wearing our spiritual attire.

There is no greater love than the love that Jesus had for all of us.

Genesis 22:5 is the first time that the word worship was used.

God will not tempt us with evil but He will test us for our commitment and to show how much we love him. Are you willing to give up everything? The son of Abraham, Isaac, was special to him but when God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac he did not hesitate. He had complete faith in God and was a friend of God because of that faith.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Heb 11:1)

When God says go we have to go all the way.

Isaac was probably in his late teens or early twenties when Abraham was asked to sacrifice him. Abraham knew that obedience to God was more important than not performing the sacrifice. He had faith that God knew what he was doing. When Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac God provided a representation of Jesus for the sacrifice, which was the lamb. He was showing the coming of Christ and his coming sacrifice.

We know that Jesus will return at any time, but we don’t know the time. If we knew exactly when he would come many people would live ungodly lives full of sin knowing they had time before the return. However, we don’t know when He will return and should always live our lives as if he is coming any time.

Things we find of value here in the world will not matter up in heaven. We should find the things of God more important than things of man. God will give you the desires of your heart as long as there is no envy driving your desire.

Romans 12:1

Is your worship acceptable to God?

We don’t have to wait to be in church to worship, a place of worship is where you are.

God only corrects us to push us in the right direction. He only wants what is good for you. We all come short of the glory of God, but he always corrects.

Be not conformed to this world! (Romans 12:2)

We tend to shy away from those who are different. How can we work together if we shy away? In God we all of one blood! The color of skin or language we speak doesn’t matter. We should all be of one mind and one accord. That is the mind of Jesus Christ.

Romans 12:3

Don’t think of yourself as being any better than anyone else. Jesus left his own people, the Jews, because of that attitude and went to the gentiles.

We allow life to get us so busy that we become lax in prayer and worship of God. However, as shown in Psalms 91 we should always trust in God.

Romans 12:4-13

When we pray for someone else we are showing worship to God.

Colossians 3:1-17

Judge Not – but let the love of Jesus Christ show forth.

We can’t judge people by the way they look.

We server a God who wants nothing more from us than to say “Thank You God”

Jesus was the final sacrifice for all of us
